To all Maine West students:
On behalf of the entire staff I wish to take this opportunity to welcome you to our new school and to express the hope that you will find success and happiness during the years that you spend here.
Maine West represents an investment of nearly seven million dollars by the taxpayers of the township in the future education of its youth. You, as students, will return ample dividends to these people by your desire to increase your capacity to learn, by your desire to gain new skills, and by your devotion to the American way of life.
As you know, Maine West differs from the traditional high school in that it is organized on the "school within a school" plan. We expect this type of

organization to foster a warm, friendly atmosphere characteristic of the small school; at the same time we shall have all the educational opportunities of the large, comprehensive high school. We think that you are going to like this new idea.
We at Maine West are most fortunate in being able to work and study in a splendid physical plant. I am confident that we are all proud of our fine school, and I am sure that all of us will do our utmost to keep the school in an excellent condition.
Working together I know that we shall achieve an enviable reputation for Maine West.
Sincerely,
R. J. Frost, Jr. Principal.
