The student council of Maine West has planned over a dozen varied projects for the 1959-60 school year. Probably the most popular of these is the Variety show held for three nights in mid-February. Other council projects include the fall Newcomers party, Hello week, Brotherhood week, the T.B. drive and the Memory record.

Newest of the student council's projects is the school's radio station "Swampfox" which will serve both Maine and Maine West. Programs will be broadcast from the tower at Maine.

Student council also operates the traffic court, maintains the lost and found, and plans the annual homecoming events in October. It contributes to organizing the West Suburban Conference dance at Melody Mill ballroom in November, and sponsors election week and the election jitney in the spring.
