Warrior of the Week

This year's hopes for a conference championship are riding heavily on senior offensive tailback, Ed Swanson. Ed is stepping into the footsteps of senior offense tailback Bob Neuman who was chosen to the all-state team last year.

Although only a junior last season, Ed saw action in every game. This year, Ed feels, Maine' grid squad will be one of the strongest teams ever fielded by the Demons. This is due to the fact that there will be eleven lettermen returning from last years second place squad. His biggest thrill in his football career came when he scored his first touchdown of the year in the Homecoming game against the Glenbard Hilltoppers last season.

The athletic talents of this good looking senior are not limited to football however. Last year he batted .324 on the state champion baseball nine. He lettered in both football and baseball in his junior year.

Ed ranks high on the popularity list as well as the athletic roster as his list of positions shows. He has been elected to the Brotherhood society as well as being chosen vice-president of the society. He also has served on Boys' club council for the past three years. This year as chairman of the sportsmanship committee, he has earned himself position on the executive board. He also served on Student Council in his freshman year.

Ed's plans for the future include attending either the University of Illinois or Drake University, where he plans to major in physical education.
