"More Than Skin Deep" will be the theme of Brotherhood week, February 22‑26, which is sponsored by Maine West's Brotherhood society.
Climaxing the week, during which present society members will distribute tags, Tony Wietzel will speak and Brotherhood awards will be presented at special assemblies Friday, February 26. The assemblies will be first period for freshmen and sophomores while juniors and seniors will attend second period.
Three girls and three boys from each class will be chosen to receive Brotherhood awards by a free election in all homerooms, to be held during the week. Every student should vote for the boy or girl in each class that he thinks has done the most to promote brotherhood.

The award winners will then become members of the Brotherhood society, which was formed to promote the ideals of brotherhood and good will in the school and community.
The present society is under the leadership of Trudy Johnson, president; Ed Swanson, vice president; Barb Clark, secretary; and George Verber, treasurer. Other members, all of whom have received brotherhood awards are, Jim Brennan, '60; Mike Callaghan, '61; Dottie Hansen, '60; Jane Lewis, '60; Bruce Murdock, '61; Mike Rowlee, '61; and Lynn Turner, '61.
"I hope that Brotherhood week will inspire everyone with the principles of brotherhood throughout the whole year," declared Trudy. She also hopes that, "Everyone will choose the most deserving to receive the brotherhood awards."
