Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. R. H, Gramman who became the parents of Richard Anthony Gramman on Valentines day, Mr. Gramman teaches mathematics.


Summer School starts o n Monday, June 13, and will last until the first week of August. This will be Maine West's first summer school. A student may earn up to one and one‑half credits in the summer session. Any course for which there is sufficient demand will be offered. Mr. Joseph Clouser, science instructor, will be in charge of the school. Brochures are to be made available in May.

The written section of the Constitution test is scheduled for Friday, March 4. Any student taking U.S. history or government this year is eligible for the exam and may register through his social science instructor, according to Mr. Otto Kohler, department head.

This part of the test will consist of approximately 100 questions. A sampling of the type of Constitution question to be asked is:

1. What one item in the constitution cannot be changed by ammendment?

The top 10 or 15 students from the written examination will be given by the department members and 10 will be selected to compete on March 21 in an oral quiz before the Des Plaines American Legion post. An all expense trip for the Washington, D. C., tour during Easter vacation will be awarded to the winner of the oral examination.
