One of the numerous clubs at Maine West is the "M" Club. With Bill Spyrison, president; Bill Henning, vice‑president; Dick Sass, treasurer; Tim Byram, secretary; and Mr. Gene Zuccarini, sponsor, the club is attempting to help Maine West to be a better school.
At present the club is working on a Hall of Fame. This will include individual pictures of various sports heroes. Also in the Hall would be photographs of alumni who excelled at sports in college. A trophy case is planned for the new field house. Immediate plans include selling popcorn at the home basketball games. The club's membership increased recently with the initiation of 13 new members. The initiates are seniors Justin Berndt, Bill Kabat, Norbert Kalas, Carl Nichols, Chuck Reid, Harvey Rosen, Bob Smith, Tom Thomson, and Bruce Wilson.
Juniors include Keith Connelly, Paul Eisenbacher, Larry Ladendorf, and Frank Schwartz.
Baton Club
The Baton club meets Thursday after school in C‑204. The officers are Liz Stephenson, president; Patti Schimka, vice-president; Gretchen Rider, Secretary; and Carol Nagle, treasurer. Miss Marjory Johnston, reading instructor for the English department is the sponsor this year.
The club is learning numerous routines, and Liz commented, "We have hopes of eventually starting a corps."

Radio Club
Radio club, sponsored by Mr. David Gauger, Physics teacher, and Mr. Peter Titre, of the electric shop, is one of the most active organizations in school this year. The club has many plans and hopes that every member will be able to obtain a license to operate some kind of radio equipment. Instruction will be given by Mr. Gauger and Mr. Titre, both of whom are licensed hams.
"We hope to claim title to an entire transmitting and receiving station someday," explained Mr. Gauger, "but that costs a lot of money."
This year's officers are Russ Lindboe, '62, president; Frank Leonard, '62 vice‑president; Sue Linneweh, '61, secretary; and John Maruska, '61, treasurer.
Pegasus Club
The Pegasus club of Maine West is an organization of 50 members who love horses. Each Monday after school they are taken by bus to a stable in Morton Grove for an hour of horseback riding. The club is sponsored by Mrs. Jeanine Jekel, biology instructor. Riding is done English style under the supervision of Mr. Don Leadley.
Kristi Meyer, junior; Cathy Glade, sophomore; Carol Schafer, senior; and Lorraine Patterson, junior, serve as the president, vice‑president, secretary, and treasurer, respectively. The club is open to both boys and girls.
