Cagers Whip Willowbrook
Registering two wins and two losses in the last two weeks, the Warrior basketball five has retained its .500 record as Thornton Fractional and Willowbrook fell to the Warriors and the visiting Warriors were downed by Barrington and East Leyden.

Two weeks ago today the Warriors took the long trip down to Thornton Fractional North and came back with a 67 win, boosted by George Verber's 21 point output and 12 and 11 point performances by Keith Connelly and Chuck Reid respectively. Barrington then humbled the Warriors 79 to 66 Saturday night though Verber came through with 26 points.

Last week's cage action saw the Warriors drop their second heartbreaker to East Leyden, 53-50, only to come back in fine form to trounce Willowbrook 83-52 in the Warrior's highest scoring game all season. Ten players drew entries in the scoring column with Verber again leading the list with 28. Chuck Reid clustered his points in the second
and third quarters to give him second honors with 14. Connelly scored nine and Bill Wegner and Bruce Ullock were next high with eight apiece. Though out of the starting line- up because of a bruised bone, Bob Kunkel saw limited action in the game and scored four points.

Willowbrook, wearing blue, gold and white, much as Maine West and even bearing the same nickname, Warriors, scored exactly the same as they did in their last game with West but Maine West greatly improved its performance. Winning 57-52 in the season opener West has improved to the extent that they picked up 83 points while allowing the same, 52.

With the season now nearly gone, the Warriors have an excellent chance of emerging from the season's battles with a 10-8 record. A weak Marmion Military Academy and a fair Glenbrook team stand in the Warrior's path and the Academy will host Maine West tomorrow night and Glenbrook will play the host the following Friday.
