|
Maine West cindermen, traveling last Tuesday to Prospect in hopes of gaining their second win of the indoor track season, were successful, as they scalped the Knights, 79 1/3 to 20 2/3. On February 5, the Warriors lost a tough quadrangular meet by a score of Oak Park 68, Morton 47 1/2, Evanston 38, Maine West 18 1/2. The little Warriors, likewise, fared the same in both meets romping past Prospect 83-17, and dropping the fourway meet to Oak Park, Morton, and Evanston. |
Leading the attack in the 79 1/3 to 20 2/3 victory, were 11 first places. Junior Ed Luzietti opened the meet with a first in the 60‑yard high hurdles. Junior Ron Albertson raced across the finish line for West Maine's second first place. Frank Schwartz, also a junior, captured the 880‑yard run for the Warriors. Senior Joe Juszak kept Maine's string of victories secure as he nipped teammate Al Harazin at the finish line of the 440‑yard dash. Jerry Swanberg, senior, raced to another first in the 60‑yard low hurdles. Ed Stedman, junior, was victorious in the mile run. Junior Art Steele copped first place honors in the high jumping and pole vaulting events, while senior John Charles captured the shot put. Both the eight‑lap and the 16‑lap relay teams for Maine West were victorious to round out the 11 first places taken by the Warriors. |
