Mainites' Art Work Exhibited

The last day for the regional exhibition of the 1960 Scholastic Art awards will be tomorrow, March 5. Maine West's 58 winning entries are being shown at Wieboldt's Evanston store, 1007 Church Street, in cooperation with Scholastic magazine.

The entries were submitted the week of February 1 along with those from all other schools in the Northeastern Illinois suburban area. They were judged by a group of prominent educators and professionals.

Gold achievement keys and certificates of merit will be presented to the regional winners. After the regional show, the best selections from the key‑winning group received blue ribbon awards. These, then, will represent Maine West at the national judging in New York city following the close of the exhibit.

Five senior students are eligible for one of the more than 100 scholarships to be awarded at the final judging in New York City. To become eligible for these scholarships, each student submitted his portfolio, representative of his best work. These students were Doug Hales, Judy Luft, Holly Meilstrup, Terry Pease, and Don Pellett.

Also juniors Carol Blau, Ruth Gembicki, Gunther Tetz and seniors Sharron Cockrane, Harry Hansen, Jeanne Holland, John Kurtz, Holly Meilstrup, Micheal Mountjoy, Don Pallett, Janice Reid, and Doug Hales.
