If you see a boy walking around the halls with a constant bump on his noggin and go up to him and ask him what this bump is from, you might get an answer like this, "Well, that basket is too low and my head is too high, so I keep getting lumps."
Just for the record, this guy is tall, soft spoken senior, Bill Wegner. He is one of the mainstays on this year's varsity basketball team. This is a great improvement over last year when he played junior‑varsity ball under Mr. Gaston Freeman.
Bill is constantly scoring baskets for the team and is one of the deadliest free‑throw artists on the team. His biggest scoring spurt this year came against Willowbrook when he dumped in 5 baskets and 9 straight free‑throws.
His greatest rebounding game came in the Warrior's encounter with Thornton Fractional. Here his 6' 5" frame was used to good advantage as he pulled down 21 rebounds.
The biggest advantage that Bill feels he has over his opponents is his height. Of course Bill sometimes comes up against someone taller than himself, but he makes up for any lack of height with his agility.
He loves basketball, as shown by his numerous practice sessions at the Algonquin Junior high gym.
Bill hopes to attend the University of Illinois at Navy Pier next fall.
