West's New Swim Pools To Open
In Two Weeks

With a tentative swimming schedule for every Maine West student, the two Warrior pools will be used by the gym classes beginning March 21. This school has another innovation with two pools, one for instruction and the other for general use.

The large pool is 75 by 42 feet and the smaller is 75 by 30 feet, which is the size of the only pool at Maine East. The pools are actually one inch longer than their given dimensions, so that any records that are broken will be official, rather than having a chance of being declared invalid.

Plans for the installation of a new swimming scoreboard, donated by the Des Plaines Lions' club, are set for April 1. This scoreboard will be for meet use during next year's Warrior swimming season. The mermen have a full schedule of meets drawn up for the new pools; the Interim Association Conference Swimming meet will also be held at Maine West.

"We soon will have two beautiful new pools," established Mr. Ken Olson, P.E. director, "where every Maine West student will have a wonderful place to swim. We are planning splash parties, family swims, and general swimming." Mr. Olson went on to explain that he hoped to have at least one night a week during April and May open for free swim periods for all Maine West students.
