Carrie, Karen Campaign For
Secretarial Position

Karen Barrett, candidate for Student Council secretary at Maine West, has many qualifications for this office. As a Student Council representative for three years, Karen has gained a good understanding of council functions. The confidence that others have in her is evidenced by the fact that as a junior, she holds the office of Chairman of Student Council Organizations committee. This chairmanship places Karen on the executive board of Council which has given her additional experience. Being a Girls' club representative for two years, a member of the GAA Executive and intramural board and a Junior leader are additional positions which Karen has held.

Last summer she received a Conservation scholarship to Springfield. During the past three years she has maintained an A‑average. One of Karen's most cherished possessions is the Brotherhood citation presented to her by her fellow students.

Karen says, "My most important qualification for this office is my sincere desire to serve you as your Student Council secretary". She believes that one of the most important functions of Student Council is to put into operation the good ideas of the student body. "As secretary I would try to incorporate an increased spirit of unity, understanding, and cooperation at Maine West."

Carrie Perez, candidate for secretary of Student Council, is well qualified for that position. She has been secretary of the Boat club and of the youth group at her church, and has held many offices in Rand Park activities. ..Carrie has also been active in Student Council and is a member of Maine West's Pom‑Pom squad. At the present time, Carrie is working on the Memory record.

Carrie has a sincere desire to become secretary of the Student Council. She states her main goal as getting concise, as well as interesting, reports to the student body, thereby making Council a more proficient and better represented organization. Carrie has remarked that, if she is elected, she will cooperate to the fullest extent of her ability with the President of Student Council to promote a richer understanding between the students and the student representatives of Maine West.
