IM Grappling Champs Are Enthroned

Under the guidance of Mr. Miley Hotchkiss, Maine West's intramural wrestling champions were crowned in a single elimination tourney, Monday night after school. Mr. Hotchkiss is in charge of the intramural program at Maine West.

There were three winners in the junior‑senior division, all seniors. Nemo Shayne captured the 154‑pound crown on a pin with 2:32 elapsed. Jim Hansen also won by a fall, in the 170‑pound class, with 1:34 elapsed, as did Ken Scott in the 160‑pound class, with 38 seconds gone.

In the frosh‑soph division, 10 champions were given their intramural patches. The sophomores wrestled at regular competition weights, with the exceptions of the 103 and 120‑pound weight classes. Freshman Frank Vaia won at 95 pounds, followed by sophomore Eric Feltman, at 112 pounds.

Sophomore Howard Miller captured the 127‑pound division, as sophomore Gary Gardner followed with a triumph at 133 pounds. In the 138‑pound event, freshman Glenn Jackson captured the title; sophomore Russ Holtz won in the 145‑pound weight class, followed by freshman Marvin Hall, at 154 pounds. Sophomore Bruce Johns took 165, followed by sophomores Craig Sietz and Greg Scheve at 180 and heavyweight.
