Golf Squad To Oppose Willowbrook

Coach David Henry's varsity golfers have been working hard for the last three weeks in preparation for their first appearance as Maine West Warriors against other Warriors, those from Willowbrook, on Monday, April 4. This meet will be for both the varsity and frosh‑soph squads.

Reporting for practice these past weeks have been the 11 boys who will represent the varsity team. Dave Dettner, a senior, is the only returning letterman from last year's team. A transfer student from Glenbrook high, Bob Miller, will bolster this year's squad.. The fresh‑sophs, coached by Mr. Vernon Moeller, consists of 20 boys, many of whom have shown promise in the early days of practice.

"Even though Maine West will participate at the varsity and fresh‑soph level in the conference meet May 23 and 24, we won't be eligible for the Interim Association trophy if we win it," commented coach Henry, "We are entering the meet unattached. It should give the boys experience in the big meets."

The Warriors have a total of 14 meets scheduled through April and May. Their competition in these months will include Downers Grove, twice; Wheaton, twice; and Barrington, Elgin; Elmwood Park; Glenbrook; Lake Park; New Trier; Oak Park; Proviso West; Willowbrook; and York each once. They are also entered in the District, State, and Conference meets. The latter being mentioned above. All of these meets are for the varsity and fresh-soph except the New Trier meet, which is for varsity only. The Warrior home meets will be held at the Rolling Green golf course and Park Ridge C. C.
