The months of April and May mark the beginning of a series of elections to fill some of the various important student offices at Maine West. With the closing of Election week and the choices made for president and secretary of Student Council, the responsibility of electing Student Council representatives starts.

During the week of April 4‑8 students wishing to be representatives for their class must take out a petition and acquire the signatures of 25 students from their class. Miss Joyce Buck, council sponsor, mentioned, "I think every student should try to become a representative so that he can voice his opinion in council."

Two days, April 11‑12, will be devoted to electing the president of the Senior class. The qualifications for this office are that the candidate must be a member of the Junior class, must take out a petition to be signed by 50 members of his class, and have a grade average of at least 2.0 for the two previous semesters must be attained.

The elections of both GAA and Pep club officers is scheduled for two days, April 28‑29. GAA officer candidates must secure a petition to be eligible for election. Only juniors are able to run for president, but any member of GAA may run for secretary, treasurer, or point chairman. Candidates for the office of Pep club president must meet the following requirements (1) Must be a member of the Junior class (2) Must take out a petition and acquire the signatures of any 50 students at school (3) Must have at least a 2.0 grade average. The other officers, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and point chairman, must meet the same requirements with the exception that they may be from any class.

April 25‑29 has been designated as the week in which the Boys' and Girls' clubs will hold their elections. All boys attending Maine West are members of the Boys' club. The club sponsors the annual Christmas Formal and the Christmas Card Post Office. Likewise, every girl at Maine West is a member of the Girls' club.
