Announce State Test Winners

Fourteen Maine West students have won state scholarships, according to the State Scholarship commission.

Among the 20,000 who competed and the 2,673 that came out on top were: Thomas Baker, Barbara Clark, Gary Coxon, Rebecca Edman, David Fouth, Beverly Gunderson, Mary Hills, Jay Jenni, Gertrude McNeal, Jerome Mohr, Carl Nichols, John Wiese, and Dave Williamson. All are seniors.

Of those named, 1,313 will receive up to $600 a year if they can qualify for financial aid. This money may be used for tuition and other academic costs The scholarship is renewable each year if the student meets the qualifications.

Under the terms of the legislation applicants must be in the top half of their class academically, of good moral character, and plan to attend a college or university in Illinois.
