Popular Nan Active, Busy

Loud Exclamations awaken the sleepy halls of A‑wing every so often during eighth period. The clarion tones issuing from A‑ill belong to Nancy Thinnes, managing editor of the WESTERNER. "You're late again," and, "Don't you have that story in," are two of the most familiar expressions the staff members know. (Oddly enough, Nancy confides that one of her faults happens to be her forgetfulness!)

Being on the WESTERNER staff, presiding as president of the National Honor society, treasurer of the Historical society, president of Quill and Scroll, plus being on Girls' Club Council, a member of Tri‑S, and Spanish Club, and a Senior Leader, occupy the spare time of this brown haired, green eyed senior, who "never seems to have time for anything."

Along with her extracurricular activities, Nancy enjoys tennis, listening to Harry Belafonte, reading, and writing poetry. As a child, her hobby was collecting feathers?

People who call her "brain," and exchange editors who like to scare her are two of Nancy's pet peeves.

"One thing I have learned at Maine is how to write impromptu themes in Mr. Marlan Davis's English class," Nancy relates.

One of Nancy's most distinguishing habits is losing permanent hall passes, much to the dismay of Miss Joyce C. Buck, council advisor.

The pandemonium subsides and one passes on down the hall, leaving Nancy searching for a lost Thesaurus.
