Modern Dance
BY THE WEEK of May 9, the members of the Modern Dance club hope to have a clinic of dance techniques and demonstrations called "Beat Time." tryouts will also then be held for new members. This is one of West's newer clubs. Miss Bonnie Wahlheim, PE teacher, announced that the club will elect officers at the end of this school year or early next fall.
Plans for next year are to organize a show such as the water show this year with some ideas of V-show incorporated. Members performed at PTC last Tuesday night.
Good Words
TO ENCOURAGE MEMBERS to think before they speak and then to speak constructively is the purpose of the Good Words club. At each meeting members receive an article dealing with phases of character.
This year's officers have been Marilyn Binder, president; Lynn Vanderspool, vice-president; Donna Ryan, secretary; and Cathy Frame, treasurer. Miss Ruth Smith, teacher of office practice, is the sponsor.
Biology Club
EXPLORING THE INDIANA Dunes area was one of the many activities planned this year by the Biology club. Officers were Alan Koch, president; Karen Gill, vice-pres.; Sandi Gerue, secretary; and Bob Engel, treasurer. Mr. John Hugh, science teacher, is the sponsor.

FTA Club
THE FTA RECENTLY named its chapter in honor of Mr. Clifford May, conservation teacher, who is retiring after nearly 37 years of teaching.
Sponsoring a cookie sale, April 26, the club hoped to raise enough money to reimburse the Maine West delegates who attended the State FTA convention in March. Any profits will also help finance the proposed tea for the installation of new officers on May 18, the final meeting of the year.
MEETING EVERY THIRD Wednesday with Mr. Edwin Anderson and Miss Joyce Montgomery as sponsors, the club has had interesting and valuable programs presented to the members.
This year's officers are Carol Rito, president; Janice Reid, vice-president; Sharon Blume, secretary; and Sue Madeley, treasurer.
Model Railroad Club
EIGHT MEMBERS of the Model Railroad club are planning a model train display to be built in a room near the track area. "We hope to have the blueprint of the track layout completed," related Jim Kasprzyk, president, "by the end of the school year." Other officers include Mike Robbins, vice-president, and Alan Barski, secretary-treasurer. Mr. Dale Marshall, math teacher, agreed to be the sponsor. The club was chartered in January.
French Club
FRENCH CLUB'S 30 members were presided over this year by Jewell Eisfeldt. Helping her were Walt Dibbern, vice-president; Tanya Hostetler, secretary-treasurer; and Mr. Robert Meute, sponsor.
A swimming party was held April 30 for members and their dates. Before the year is over, a trip to a French restaurant and a picnic at Mr. Meute's home are planned.
