Journalism Class Struggles Over Westerner Issue

This issue of the WESTERNER has been edited by Maine West's only English III‑J class under the direction of Mr. Gerald Royer, sponsor of the WESTERNER. Each student in the journalism class was assigned a temporary position on the WESTERNER staff.

Heading the staff as Editor-in-chief is Andy Adolfson, who is at present, the editor of the Junior class paper, '61 Smoke Signals. Managing editor is Nancy Herzog. News editor is Art Chick, a feature writer for the Des Plaines Suburban Times. Assistant editor is Dianne Lyon.. Feature editor is Pat Bolden. Assistant editor is Karen David. Page three editor is Carol Peterson, who is at present, the editor of LEGEND. Assistant editor is Rosie Sherry. Sports editor is Al Wankat, a sports writer for the Times. Assistant editor is Ed Stedman, a sports writer for the Des Plaines Journal.

Reporters and columnists are Bruce Schellin, a sports writer for the Journal, and Jim Scott. Copy editor is Diana Buthman. Her assistants are Janice Hamilton, Donna Michelsen, Dave O'Connell, Marcy Tuttle, and Ann Wobbe. Headline editor is Anaterese Giardini. Her assistants are Carol Dillon and Jim Scott. Exchange and business manager is Dave O'Connell. Circulation manager is Sue Geiger. Art and picture editor is Carol Dillon. WESTERNER typists are Arlene Boyce and Karen Klopp.

"The cub staff has found out that putting out a newspaper isn't easy," sighed Andy, "but it was fun."
