Gathering momentum with each meet, the varsity cindermen have seemed almost invulnerable as they extended their perfect record of the outdoor track campaign to four wins and no losses.
The Warriors christened their new outdoor track with a 101 1/2 to 16 1/2 passing of Proviso West. Maine West then traveled to Leyden East to vanquish the Eagles, 75 2/3 to 42 1/3, in the rain. The Warrior's third straight win came against the Prospect Knights, 87 1/6 to 30 5/6. Maine West broke their team scoring record of 101 1/2 points against Lake Park and Grant, April 27, as they crushed the upstate schools, 122 to 14 2/3 to 10 1/3, with Grant second and Lake Park third.
Next, the Warriors participated at Waukegan in the third annual relays sponsored by that school, the West High boys compiled 29 points, 11 of which were garnered by junior Art Steele. The Warriors finished in eighth place out of 14 entries. New Trier copped the meet with 83 points.

Steele Stars
Steele collected a tie for first in the pole vault at 11 feet 9 inches, second in the broad jump at 20 feet 31/2 inches, and a tie for second in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet 6 inches.
The second week of May will be a busy one for the WARRIORS as they journey to LaGrange Tues. for a tough triangular meet with LTHS and Riverside-Brookfield. Thurs. will find the runners in a rematch with Proviso West at Proviso's oval. Sat. the varsity tracksters compete with several of the finest schools in Illinois in the District meet at Evanston.
Scoring Record Broken Maine West's most recent triumph came at the hands of two upstate high schools, Grant and Lake Park. Every first and second place was dominated by West. Art "the high bar" Steele was a triple winner as he captured the high‑jump, broad‑jump, and tied teammate Jim Solka for top honors in the polo vault.
