Grads Given Scholarships

Twenty‑five scholarships have been given to Maine Township High School West students to attend various colleges and universities in the country.

Students who received Illinois State scholarships are Bev Gunderson and Tom Richardson, Illinois State Normal university; Gary Coxon, the University of Illinois; Dave Fouth, Illinois Institute of Technology; J. David Mohr, University of Chicago; Pat Weretka, Bradley university; and Dave Williamson, Illinois Wesleyan university.

Chuck Reid and Bob Kunkel are planning to attend Iowa State Teacher's college on athletic scholarships along with Ron Martin who received a combination academic and athletic scholarship. Doug Schmidt will go to the University of Michigan and Dan Nehlsen, the University of Indiana. Both were the recipients of athletic scholarships.

Judie Luft is headed for the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts where she will use the scholarship given to her by Scholastic Magazine.

Students receiving honorary scholarships are Dottie Hansen, Beloit college; Elaine Hanson, University of Illinois; Wendy Mackland, Beloit college; Bob Pawelko, Bradley university, and John Wiese, University of Illinois.

Dave Wedeking will benefit from a half‑tuition scholarship at Northwestern's School of Music.

Eileen Corcoran is taking advantage of a $500 a year tuition scholarship offered her by Bradley university.

The only Maine West student attending Yale university this coming fall will be Doug Hales, who is being provided with a scholarship directly from the school.

This year's Elk's club scholarship, totaling $400, went to Nancy Thinnes who will go downstate to the University of Illinois.

Jeanne Holland won a $300 scholastic scholarship to Colorado State university.
