Warrior of the West

"My greatest moment in high! school occurred last week when Maine West won the first Interim conference track title," says senior quarter‑miler Joe Juszak. In that meet Juszak placed in 440 and ran anchor on the winning mile relay team. In his four years at Maine and Maine West Joe has won four letters while participating in track and football.

This season Joe has been beaten by a rival runner only once in dual outdoor meet competition. At the district meet in Evanston his time of 52.4 seeonds missed by only .4 of qualifying for the state finals in Champaign. Joe did, however, anchor the mile relay which made the trip downstate.

Joe's major peeves include Elvis Presley, being called "Rufus", and having his ear continually bent by the varsity sprinters complaining about their "rough' workouts.

Joe, 5' 7", 150 pounder, has maintained a "B" average and next year plans to attend the University of Illinois where he will major in chemical engineering.
