Traveling Library For West

All science students at Maine West will soon have access to a traveling science library. It is owned by the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the National Science foundation. Students will find it located in the room adjacent to the office in the library.

Officials at West Maine wore accepted as one of the schools to be included in the program after making application to the traveling library. This program was begun in 1955.

The 1959‑60 collection consists of 165 books in the library during the previous year and 35 new selections. The library is divided into eight units of 25 books. Each unit is placed in a small traveling case that can also be used for display purposes. The general plan of operation is to send each school 5 books at a time which may be used for a period of two months. The books will also be available to students of Maine Township for half that length of time.

An exchange will then be made with three other schools so that by the end of the academic year, all schools will have had the use of the 200 books.

"Posters will be put up soon," related Mr. H. L. Rider, principal of B-wing. He further commented, "We need to foster the reading of all good books"

The traveling library's books range in subject matter from Beginning Electricity to The Enjoyment of Mathematics.
