Harriers Run Against Red Devils Tonight

Since late August, 44 varsity and 33 frosh‑soph cross‑country runners have been eagerly working on weekdays and on Saturdays for their first meet at Hinsdale this weekend.

With the return of three lettermen, John Jurco, Lee Johnson, and Jerry Romes, and junior numeral winners, John Kragie, Dave Sullivan, John Hinds, John Garver and Paul Eisenbacher, the varsity thinclads are out to improve upon their third place conference finish shown last year. The sophomores, with numeral winner Al Ralph returning, are hoping to retain their conference championship.

Under the direction of Mr. Barringer and Mr. Pitts, the Harriers face a tough schedule on the two-mile course. Riverside may prove a surprise this year under Mr. Calisch, former varsity coach at Maine. The schedule shows: Hinsdale (away), Evanston (away), York (home), La Grange (away), Arlington Heights (home), Conference Meet (At Riverside-Brookield), Riverside-Brookfield (away), and the District Cross Country meet. All the home meets will be held at the Maine East athletic field. Admission to the meets at Maine is free.
