The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude test, a two‑hour college board examination administered by the Educational Testing service, will be given on October 24, 1959 at 8:30 am, in the Maine Township High School West cafeteria. Students may sign up in the bookroom. The cost is $1.
Those who wish to apply for a scholarship award may become familiar with the scholarship programs of their interest and determine whether or not they meet the eligibility requirements. For guidance in just what test should be taken, the dean or homeroom teacher should be consulted. Upon taking the PSAT, participants will be asked to indicate the sponsors to whom they wish scores to be sent. Those eligible may compete for any number of the scholarships by taking this one test.
The American College Testing program, ACT, will test students from Maine West later on in the year. The purpose of this examination is not only for the students' benefit, but also for the use of Illinois and Iowa colleges making the selection of prospective students to their schools.
