Maine Imps Tie 1, Lose 1

In their best defensive game this season, the Imps held a fine York frosh‑soph squad to a scoreless tie. An equally tight york defense halted all attempts for a Maine score at Maine last Friday.

York threatened strongly in the final quarter when a Baron pass was intercepted by Maine, fumbled, and recovered by York on the Maine 20‑yard line. A completed pass by Strow of York gave the Barons a first down on the nine‑yard line. Faced with the possibility of a York score, the Maine defense held and threw the York team for a four‑yard loss. With seconds left, a desperation pass by Strow failed to connect and the game ended before York could fashion another play.

Maine 6, Hinsdale 7

A blocked extra point attempt spelled the difference between a Maine tie or a defeat, when the Little Demons fell to Hinsdale 7‑6 a week from last Saturday Hinsdale's score came in the second quarter on a run by P. Hambrick. On a drive originating midway in the first period, the Red Devils scored from the seven‑yard line on the second play of the second period.

Maine was held scoreless until the closing seconds when a drive from the 43 paid off in a touchdown for the Little Demons. After being held on the three-yard line for two plays, Butch Bending went over for the score.
