Demons Look Toward Lyons

Maine will travel to LaGrange tomorrow to meet the defending conference champion, undefeated in seven conference starts last season.

Lyons gave promise of a good season when they beat Oak Park 12‑6 in pre‑season play, but fell down when they lost to a strong Arlington Heights team and a fair Riverside ‑Brookfield team by scores of 27‑7 and 13‑7, respectively. One of the biggest upsets so far this year was their loss to Arlington, which many experts had figured as being a much closer contest.

Weakened by the loss of two key players, La Grange does not figure to be the power it was last year. Two junior backs, Dick Ruggles quarterback and Tom Melchior, halfback, will not see action against Maine because of injuries sustained in recent games. Ruggles and Melchior were important men in La Grange's football hopes until their injuries.

The weakened backfield which La Grange will probably field includes Dale Deason, senior quarterback; Ken Woerth, senior halfback; Bob Hopkins, junior fullback; and Cliff McGillivray, a punting halfback. They will test Maine's famous single wing offense with their own modified "T" formation.
