Imps Beat Downers, Lyons

The Little Demons have discovered the winning formula as they demonstrated by whipping La Grange and Downers Grove in their last two conference contests. La Grange became the first victim of the spirited Imps as they fell 9‑7 due to a safety and a Demon TD. Downers also was helpless to halt the relentless Imp attack and went down to a 16‑0 defeat.

Ray Leonardson powered his way for five yards while scoring the first touchdown for the Little Demons. With 2:05 left in the first quarter, Leonardson put the Imps into a lead which they were never to lose. Mike Knnz, the Imp left end, kicked the extra point.

The second safety in the last two games gave Maine an ad - Downers player fumbled the pigskin in the end zone and recovered the ball before a Maine player could gain control of it for a touchdown. Downers was required to kick to Maine after the safety.

Berney Jungers tallied the final touchdown late in the final quarter when he went across from the two-yard line.

All Imp scoring action took place in the second period as the Little Demons racked up their first win in three league starts. A pass play from Burney Jungers to Ken Repple on the first play of the quarter scored a touchdown from the 37‑yard line. The play was called back later because of a penalty.

Tom Sewart later drove the LG ball-carrier back from the 15 for a safety. Maine seemed about to score after the LG kickoff, but was halted on the La Grange 19‑yard line.

Late in the quarter, Jungers found Ray Leonardson's range and threw a pass from the 35 which netted a touchdown. Ken Repple added the extra point.

A 30‑yard pass play late in the last quarter gave the La Grange frosh‑sophs their only score. The extra point failed.
