Sweeping two dual meets in the conference, Maine took Lyons 23‑36 (low score wins) and skunked Downers 15‑70 by taking the first five places. The Downers meet was the first slam in varsity conference competition this year.

Jack "Wildhorse" Kragie took first for the thinclads against Lyons with a time of 9:23. Lee Johnson held a close second with 9:24. Frank Schwartz (9:40) took fourth, Dave Sullivan (9:46) seventh, John Jurco (9:49) ninth, Wally Boerger (9:53) tenth, Stu Shakman (9:56) 11th, John Hinds (9:57) 12th, and "Wild Bill" Russell (10:00) 13th, as LT's fifth point‑man finished 14th. Altogether 46 runners passed through the chute.

Jack Kragie remained undefeated in the 15,70 Downers whitewash, taking first with 9:59. This knocked off approximately 10 seconds from his best time previously. John Jurco (also 9:59) took second, Lee Johnson (10:03) third, Dave Sullivan (10:04) fourth, and Frank Schwartz (10:05) fifth, completing the sweep for Maine. Wally Boerger held seventh (10:19), Jerry Romes (10:20) held eighth, Stu Shakman (10:23) ninth, John Garver (10:30) tenth, and Bill Russell (10:35) 11th. Paul Eisenbacher, John Hinds, Harvey Pomeraning, Wilton Battles, and Bob Helm all combined to hold Downers' fifth point‑man to 20th.

The Harrier's next meet will be the Conference tomorrow at Riverside Brookfield.
