Replacing Maine's annual bonfire, an all school pep dance will be held in the multi‑purpose room tonight from 7:30 to 11 to create spirit and enthusiasm for the Riverside‑Brookfield game tomorrow.
The guest speaker will be former varsity football star Vie Pagel, a 1958 Maine graduate. The cross country and football teams will be honored, and dance music will be provided by the Rhythm Kings. The cheerleaders will add their pep, and refreshments will be served.
Tickets for 25 cents have been on sale this week in the cafeteria. None will be sold at the door, and ID cards must be shown.
Conference Dance
The pep dance has been under the direction of social committee chairmen Barb Clark and Ginny Breit and sportsmanship chairmen Ed Swanson and Buzz Podewell.
"Everyone should come out to raise our team's spirit and to have a lot of fun," stated Barb.

The annual West Suburban Conference dance will be held November 10, from 8:30‑12 p.m. at the Melody Mill ballroom. The purpose of this dance is to promote inter‑school spirit between the eight schools in the conference: Arlington, Downers, Glenbard, Hinsdale, LaGrange, Maine, Riverside-Brookfield, and York.
Each school will provide one act to perform at the dance. Joe Byers, senior, will represent Maine as the emcee, and Stu Shakman and Bill Russell, Maine students, will do a guitar accompanied duet. Every student planning to attend must have a permission sheet signed by his or her parents before he may purchase a ticket. Because each school is allotted only a certain number of bids, tickets will be sold only to Juniors and Seniors. The tickets will be divided up between Maine and Maine West in the proportion Maine ‑ 4/7; Maine West ‑ 3/7.
The dance is semi‑formal and corsages will not be in order.
