Harriers Win WSC; |

Running like true Demons, the varsity thinclads from Maine put together their most impressive winning streak in several years, winning the conference crown, and qualifying for the state cross country meet. The harriers squeaked past Glenbard 27‑28, clinched the conference meet while gaining four blue ribbons, overpowered the Redbirds from Arlington 18‑51, and took second in state district competition behind powerful New Trier. The top seven harriers will run tomorrow at the University of Illinois. |
The conference meet was run through the forest preserves at Riverside, and Maine junior Jack Kragie took first with (9:20.9). Maine ended up with 41 points to second place Glenbard's 48, as Lee Johnson (9:33) held fifth, Dave Sullivan (9:36) seventh, John Jurco (9:41) ninth, and Wally Boerger (9:57) 19th. |
