Four Attend Conference

"Youth for Better Human Relations‑Your Attitudes in Action" was the theme of the seventh Annual High School Intergroup Relations conference held Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Steinmetz High school. The conference was attended by students from Chicago area high schools who met to discuss human relations problems in schools and communities.

Maine West's delegates were Tri‑S officers Linda Thomas, president; Fred Kerr, vice-president; Barb Strauser, secretary; Sharon Blume, treasurer; Mr. Eric Edstrom, sponsor; and Dave Williamson, who was a student discussion leader.

Following the keynote address by Joseph D. Lohman, Illinois state treasurer, the representatives were divided into smaller discussion groups. They later reassembled for a musical program and a speech by Bill Veeck, president of the Chicago White Sox.

The annual School Intergroup Relations conferences are sponsored by eight human relations agencies and three professional education organizations.
