Honor Society Numbers Five

The National Honor society of Maine West has a membership of five students, who are Nancy Thinnes, president; George House, vice‑president; Dottie Hansen, secretary; Bill Julitz, treasurer; and Doug Hales. All the members are seniors.

Members of the National Honor society are chosen by the faculty and their acceptance is based on their class rating, character, leadership, and service. As a special recognition on graduation, the society members receive gold tassles to wear on the graduation caps.

The National Honor society is not a social club, but rather, its purpose is to contribute something of value to the school.

During the course of the year, information about the opportunities of scholarships will be gathered and distributed by members of the NHS. The distribution of this information is this year's project according to sponsor Miss Ann Lauterbach, of the English department.
