Warrior Of The Week

"The Tuley Flash" is the name which Maine West's basketball team have given transfer student Bob Skaleski.

Bob transferred to Maine late in his junior year from Tuley high in Chicago and immediately took a liking to the school and its inhabitants.

Bob is one of the key men in varsity head coach Gaston Freeman's plans for a successful team this season. Bob plays the trigger man on the offense, which is the position of lead man. He starts the plays rolling and has to be able to use a lot of initiative calling the different plays. He must be a fine ball handler and be able to keep calm in tough situations. He has to be a good shooter and be able to go full speed when an opening is spotted. Bob sometimes finds this quite difficult but says, "If you concentrate, it isn't too hard to learn."

Bob has other interests besides basketball though he does like throwing balls through the hoop best. He loves to go to jazz concerts and thinks that Gerry Mulligan is the greatest. Although Bob devotes quite a bit of time to basketball he still finds time to maintain his B average and his rank of seventy-second in the senior class. He also plans to go out for baseball in the spring.

Bob is not as tall as many of the boys on the team, but makes up for this with his speed and desire.

About the team this year Bob has this to say, "I think we're going to be real tough; we have a few spots which need some ironing out but we're coming along quite well."
