Janie Lewis DAR Winner

Janie Lewis has been awarded the annual Daughters of the American Revolution citizenship award. For achievement in dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism, Janie will have the right to compete with the candidates of other state high schools for the state and national honors.

The senior class voted on December 1 to select three girls for the final running. Barbara Clark, Trudy Johnson, and Janie Lewis were chosen. The faculty voted December 9 to select the representative for Maine West. Janie will receive the award from the Park Ridge chapter in the near future.

Janie, an active girl, has participated in extra curricular activities such as Brotherhood society, Girls club, French club, Junior leaders, Pep club, student council, and Public Relations secretary.

According to Mrs. R. L. Fox, representative for the Park Ridge chapter, the aim of the award is to pay tribute to youthful character and to call attention to those qualities which are desirable in good citizenship.
