JOE BYERS, PRESIDENT of Boys' club, is presently engrossed in making the Christmas formal the "best dance that we'll ever see at Maine West." This event does not engage all of his time, though. Being a ham radio operator employs a large portion of his leisure time. He has three favorites when it comes to listening to music: dancing, doing homework, and just sitting around. His tastes range from impact music to the classics, while arranging and composing also interest Joe.
No one talks to Joe very long or listens to a student council meeting without realizing that he likes to argue. Fidel Castro is his favorite topic for this pastime. Joe never gets mad during these discussions, though. He has no pet peeves because he doesn't believe in them. However, he dislikes seeing people who won't smile.
Strange as it may seem, Mr. Byers has no favorite foods he really doesn't like any. Joe considers eating a habit; a necessary waste of time.
Joe's college choices include Illinois college in Jacksonville and Denver university although he is also considering Lincoln college, located in Lincoln, Illinois. Presently, Joe has not decided what his major will be.
Maine West, according to Joe is 150 times better than the other school because it is more organized and offers more for the students. One of his chief goals is to promote "nationalism" among the student body.

THE MEXICAN TRIP last spring and being elected Girls' club president rank high among the most exciting moments of active senior Lynn Lewis.
In her four years at Maine she has been active in the music department as a member of Modern Music Masters, senior choir, and the Choraliers, Lynn is also secretary of her church youth group and a church officer. Her favorite pastime, strange as this may seem, is watching and playing sports including football! "I have THREE brothers," she explains, "that means I HAVE to be able to play!"
Among her loves are "music and Spanish and little children." Peeves include racial discrimination and her nicknames which range from "Lynnie" to "Louis" to "Pin."
In the future for Lynn are four years at Northern Illinois University and then a career as a grammar school teacher. Her secret desire is to study in Europe. "But this is only a dream." Then, too, she admits ambitions to someday be an accomplished singer, dancer, or to be able to play all the instruments in the orchestra.
Sighed Lynn at the end of the interview, "I guess my main trait is that my feet are too little and my mouth is too big. Does that mean I always put my foot in my mouth?!"
