Throughout the past weeks the student council representatives have been working hard on such projects as the memory record, the TB and paper drives, and the composing of a school song.
Maine West's memory record will be "greater than ever," according to Dennis Jordan, junior, who is supervising the project for the student council.
Recordings of sounds from the Homecoming, the Christmas concert, election week, and several of the important basketball games are among a few of the selections for the record.
Other members of the memory record committee include Sandy Haarvig, jacket cover; Andy Adolphson, script; Dan Wiberg, sales; Pat Huey, publicity; and Carol Perez, finance.
Again this year, the student council sponsored the TB drive during the week of December 7-11. Representatives from student council collected contributions every day in homeroom and passed out

literature, concerning tuberculosis and its effects, to all students. Small red pins were given to each student contributing to the fund. The senior class won the competition with 105 per cent of its quota. The other classes in order of their positions are junior, sophomore and freshman.
Ed Swanson, chairman of the sportsmanship committee, stated that the paper drive was not very successful mainly due to the poor cooperation of the student body. The council made $58.57 on the drive.
One of the largest projects undertaken by the student council was the composition of a school pep song. The music committee which composed the song was voluntary, and gave a great deal of their own time and effort. A number of students wrote words to the songs which were compiled into a song of which Maine West can be proud.
The members of the music committee are Nick Kelly, chairman; Andi Boehmer, Joe Byers, and Lynn Lewis, all seniors.
