The Maine West gymnastics team will host a strong Prospect squad next Tuesday in their fourth non‑conference meet of the season.

Maine West 71, Morton 61

Maine West's gymnastics squad edged out Morton 71‑61 to win their first meet of the season and to boost their nonconference record to one win and three losses.

Dick Sass, senior, was the highest scorer on the squad with a total of 26 points. Sass took first places in the parallel bars, high bars, and the still rings, and a second in the side horse event. Bill Downing and Tom Janssens, sophomores, took top honors for the West Warriors in the tumbling and trampoline competition, respectively.

Coach Sidney Drain explained that the team as a whole has shown a great improvement, but due to the small squad they have had a hard time in scoring the needed points for the victory.
