Scribblers Organize

The first meeting of the newly founded Journalistic honor society at Maine West will be held at Andi Boehmer's house, January 26, at 6:30 p.m. The main purpose of the meeting will be to initiate members into the society and to adopt a charter.

The students who will become members of Quill and Scroll are Andi Boehmer, editor. in‑chief of The Westerner; Skip Dautel, photographer; Doug Hales, art editor; Al Harazin, headline editor; Jeanne Holland, feature writer; Sharon Shine, copy editor; Mary Ann Normark feature editor; Nick Kelly, news editor; Nancy Thinnes, managing editor; Al Wankat, sports writer; and John Wiese, assistant sports editor.

Qualifications for a student wanting to become a member of Quill and Scroll are that he be in the upper third of his class, have at least one year of newspaper experience and 100 inches of printed copy in either of the local papers, The Westerner, or both, and be recommended by the advisor of The Westerner.

Pins will be given to the 11 members being accepted by the society. All members of the staff on the school newspaper have been invited to the dinner and the ceremonies afterwards.
