"Class ring samples will be on display at Maine West very soon," assured Mr. James Kirkpatrick, Sophomore class adviser.
Last October the Sophomore class officers began taking bids for the class rings. The committee, consisting of Butch Bending, president; Janie Jacobs, vice‑president; Tomi Frasier, secretary; and Gretchen Rider, treasurer, chose between three companies for the school rings. The three companies were Morgan's Inc., The Balfour Company, and Herff Jones.
"All the companies brought in designs and drawings," disclosed Tomi, "but the thing that sold the committee was that Morgan's brought in an actual ring to show to the committee."

This year the rings will have two different styles, the standard ring (the type of ring from last year), and the oval type, as found in other high schools and most colleges. The rings will be almost the same, except for a few changes in the emblem on the top and the side design of the ring.
They will be available in gold and silver. Pins can also be purchased by those who wish them. Prices range from approximately $6 to $25.
The rings will be on display sometime during the next two weeks in front of the main office.
Maine East has decided to continue with the same type ring as last year.
