Gymnasts Edged by Hinsdale

Maine West's gymnastics team will travel to Niles, Friday Jan. 29 for their seventh nonconference meet with a record of one win and five defeats.

The varsity Warriors lost to Hinsdale last Thursday in a very exciting and thrilling meet. The score of the meet was 73‑59 in favor of Hinsdale.

Dick Sass, team captain, was high scorer for Maine West with three first places, one in parallel competition another in highbar, and the other in the still ring competition. Tom Janssen, sophomore, took second place in the trampoline event, while Jim Lunetto, sophomore, took third in sidehorse competition.

"One reason for our loss was that the squad was without the services of sophomore Bill Downing, who was sick with flu," explained coach Sid Drain. He also pointed out that the team lacks depth and he urges any boy interested in gymnastics to come out for the sport.
