Boys Taught Leadership

Under the capable guidance of Mr. Kenneth Olson, chairman of the athletic department, the new leadership training course is turning into a tremendous success.

The boys in this class were hand-selected last year by their respective gym coaches. A total of 35 boys were chosen and not one boy has dropped out of the course.

Most of the boys are fine athletes themselves and some are just hard workers who are interested in athletics. The gym classes are conducted down in the track area beneath the cafeteria. Two classes of about 15 to 20 boys are held each day. The boys are also instructed in the art of life saving. Mr. Olson is going to try to get jobs for all of these boys this summer. He hopes that they can be lifeguards or help at the different parks in the Des Plaines area.

If this class works out well this year, it will be put into effect next year on a larger scale, according to Coach Olson.
