Matmen Win Three;
Face Cards Tuesday

The wrestling Warriors will face Arlington Heights at home next Tuesday, Jan. 26. They will go into the meet with a six-win, four‑loss record.

Maine West traveled to Palatine last Friday to face one of their most feared opponents. The first three grapplers earned victories and the team came through with a 12‑point advantage to win, 28‑16.

The grapplers played host to Grant on January 7, and walked away with another victory. Two days earlier, they went to Lake Forest and also gained a win.

Prospect visited Maine West on December 19, and with that meet the matmen started their winning streak.

Individual Records Given

Bob Jonas, 97 lb. sophomore, has an outstanding record of 9 wins and no defeats. Tom Carlin, 105 lb. sophomore, is 9 and L Tim Byram, 114 lb. senior and 1959 State champion at 95 lbs., has a 10 and 0 mark.

Several different boys have been wrestling at the 120 lb. weight. Bill Crowden has a 1-win, no-loss record, Jack Mercer, 0 and 2, Darrell Wells has a tie, Chuck Robison, 0 and 1, and Gil Caudill, 0 and 5. At 127, Bill Henning, along with Byram, has a 10 and 0 record. At 133, Chuck Novak has 1 and 8. Paul Cornog, 6 losses and 1 tie, and Darrell Wells, 1 tie and 2 wins. Dick Geisler, 145 lb. junior, has a and 9 mark. Mike Kunkle, 154 lb. junior, has a 4 and 4 showing, winning the last four in a row. Bob Nemeth, senior, wrestling at 165 lbs. has a 1 and 6 record. At 180, Ray Boyd, sophomore, has won 1, lost 6, and tied 1. Bill Spyrison, senior heavyweight, has won 6, tied 3 and lost 1.

Looking better all the time, the grapplers have taken the last four consecutive matches.

The Sophomore wrestlers went to Morton High school last Saturday, Jan. 16, for a quadrangular meet in which they took second.
