Warrior Of The West

He may be small in size when he is walking around the Maine West halls but to his opponents he is an unconquerable giant. This, of course, refers to state champion wrestler, Tim Byram, better known as Tiny Tim.

Tim has been sporting that overgrown letter since his sophomore year, when he wrestled in the 95 lb. weight class. That year he was elected as the Most Valuable wrestler on the varsity team, which was quite a feat for a sophomore to accomplish.

In his junior year, many more honors were to come to Tim. He was beaten only once that year when he wrestled in the weight class above his own. This is the only loss Tim has on this fine record of 37 victories, 1 loss and no ties. At the state tournament last year, he won first

place in the District, first place in the Sectional, and last but by no means least, first place in the State tournament. This means that he had the prestige of being the best wrestler in the 95 lb. weight class in the state of Illinois. Tim topped off this phenomenal season by being elected captain of the varsity squad.

His overall record in dual meets for his three years of varsity competition is one of the finest records ever held by an individual at Maine West or Maine. This year Tim has not been defeated in nine matches. His number one desire is to win that state championship for the second consecutive time. He is now wrestling in the 112 lb. weight class and is finding the competition a little rougher, but he feels that he can "beat them all.,,
