Four senior girls represented Maine West at the forty‑eighth annual Illinois State High School Press Association convention. The convention took place September 13 and 14 at the University of Illinois.
Jan Moranz '69 and Joanie Walter '69 attended for the Legend, and Kathie Wolf '69 and Jan Thain '69 represented the Westerner. Mr. George Walker, Legend and Westerner sponsor, accompanied the girls and led a panel discussion for advisers only.
The purpose of the convention was to provide information and advice to students involved in high school publications. Sponsored by ISHSPA, any Illinois high school belonging to ISHSPA was invited to attend.
Legend representatives attended two discussion groups, one on Friday and one on Saturday. They were entitled "Don't Wrap a Book with a Bad Cover" and "Good Layout is Basic."
