The Maine West Dad's Club hosted the second annual Sports Spectacular on Friday, September 6. This exhibition gave Maine West fans a chance to become acquainted with the 1968 football and cross country teams.
The football teams demonstrated their skills and techniques through intersquad scrimages. The freshman team was divided into two factions which played each other, as did the sophomore team. The junior varsity and varsity teams were mixed and then divided into two opposing teams.
The cross country teams exhibited their jogging prowess although they had to take it relatively easy because of a meet scheduled for the following morning.

Throughout the Sports Spectacular the girls of the Pom Pon Squad and the cheerleaders demonstrated their skills in provoking school spirit.
As was done last year, an old-fashioned box supper consisting of fried chicken, French fries, and cole slaw was sold to the spectators. At 6 p. m. the grandstands began to fill with people munching chicken while awaiting the 7 p.m. exhibition.
The Osage Orange combo headed by Jim Fritz provided musical entertainment for the occasion.
