Class activities are in full swing now. The Freshman Class held their PTC party on February 22, while the Sophomore Class PTC party is scheduled for tomorrow night, March 8. The Junior Class is busy making preparations for their upcoming prom to be held on May 17. The Senior Class has made the final arrangements for their prom to be held on June 6.
On February 15 the cast of Of Mice and Men won third place at the district drama contest, so they will advance to the sectional contest at Maine South. This is the first time in the history of Maine West that a drama group advanced to the sectionals.
The cast will perform at 7 tonight, March 7, in the Maine South auditorium. Anyone who is interested in seeing the performance is welcome to attend. Admission is free.
There are 12 schools participating in the sectional contest. The top three schools will advance to the state competition.
Sixty students from Maine West have qualified to participate in the national Math Contest, which will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 1969.
A test was given on February 13; and the test scores of 29 seniors, 23 juniors, six sophomores, and two freshmen qualified to make the top 60.
On March 11, these students will take the national test during homeroom through second period. The Maine West student with the highest score will receive an award, and the top three scores will determine the Maine West team score.
Pegasus Club equestrians are already busily planning for their annual horse show, which will be held sometime in May. The club's final activity of the year will be a five‑hour trail ride. Only experienced riders will be taken out on this event, which will take place shortly after summer vacation begins.

Because these events require experienced riders, the club encourages both riders and nonriders to begin working on their riding skills. Pegasus Club goes riding every Wednesday after school, so there is plenty of time for riders to work toward these two goals.
Twenty members of the Science Club attended a program on the Nuclear Navy on February 24. Chief Petty Officer Barnhart was the speaker for the program. His talk concerned the qualifications and schooling requirements involved in the program.
A 25 minute film, "The Nuclear Navy," was shown, and later pamphlets were distributed. The purpose of this program was to help the club members become better acquainted with the Nuclear Navy Program.
On February 15, 60 students were involved in the Internation Simulation which was held here at Maine West. During the day they acted as countries ‑ pondering, discussing, and deciding on new ideas to better their nation as an example of world organization.
According to Mr. Harvey Kelber, sponsor of the activity, another Internation Simulation is being planned. It will probably be held sometime later in spring.
Seniors will be measured for their graduation caps and gowns on March 13. During all lunch periods they may go into the L wing corridor to be measured. A $4.50 rental fee should be paid at this time, according to Miss Mae Jean Engen, dean of girls.
