Grapplers Close With 5‑2 Record

The wrestling season ended on a good note for the Maine West varsity wrestling team as they took a second place in the State District meet held at Forest View. Maine West collected 65 points, 20 points less than Maine East's 85‑point, first‑place total.

Four West wrestlers went on to the Sectional Meet. Bruce Barringer '70 took a second at 133 pounds, and Steve Waecker '69 placed second at 145 pounds, losing only to sectional champ Ivar Moi of Maine East.

Jim Morrison extended his undefeated streak as he was the District Champion at 154 pounds. Tom Mietus '69 also took a second at 165 pounds.

In the Sectional Meet Barringer had to settle for third place when he was defeated by Barry Silverstein of Maine East.

Suffering his first defeat of the season, Jim Morrison went on to take a third place in the meet. Jim completed the season with a 22‑2‑1 record.

The Warriors finished second in the Central Suburban League with a 5‑2 record.
