Mr. Stephen Herring, who helped run the preliminary contest, says, "From the result of this test, the top 60 students were chosen to compete in the nationwide competition."
The students were able to take this written test in their own school. From each school the three highest scores are combined to form a team. These scores are then sent to the Illinois contest.
The scores sent from Maine West's team are as follows: Steve Baenziger 65, Louis Brunton 50, and John Doyle 48 out of a possible 150 points.
