Council Committee Plans Sleep‑In

A sleep‑in has been tentatively scheduled for the girls of Maine West. The Social Committee of Student Council has been making plans to have a big playnight for girls.

The gym would be open for activities such as: volleyball, basketball, and gymnastics. The pool would also be open for swimming. Instead of going home after the activities, the girls would spend the night in one of the gymnasiums.

Around midnight food would be provided for the girls. Afterwards, entertainment would be provided by the girls with skits, guitar singing, and various other activities. The next morning there would be a brunch.

The sleep‑in would be open to the first 20 girls submitting permission sheets from each of the four classes. This would make a total of 80 girls.

Each girl would bring her own blankets and pillows. The price of admission, which will be about $1, will pay for the food.

Jo Schaefer '69, chairman of the Social Committee, explains her feelings about the sleep‑in. "It would be something different for the girls of Maine West to do. It would also bring the classes closer together. I'm sure it will be a lot of fun for all those involved."

The date has not been set as of yet, pending the decision of Mr. A. K. H. Cochrane. If he does agree, the date would be set for the near future. Six teachers would act as chaperones.

The idea originated with an Elk Grove High School sleep‑in.
